The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) service cares for teenagers and young adults (16 to 24 years of age) with a cancer diagnosis.
The NCA is a TYA designated hospital which means that our Trust has been approved to provide cancer care for teenagers and young adults, within its overall adult cancer services. The NCA works collaboratively with the Principal Treatment Centre (PTC) which for Greater Manchester is Christie NHS Foundation Trust.
The Christie TYA Service is made up of doctors, nurses, youth support workers and social workers all of which are experts in delivering TYA care.
If you are a teenager (16 to 18 years, up until your 19th birthday) and have a diagnosis of cancer you will be referred to the Christie TYA Service.
If you are a young adult (19 to 24 years, up until your 25th birthday) and have a diagnosis of cancer you will be offered a choice or either remining at the NCA or your care transferred to the Christie TYA Service. If you wish to remain at the NCA your treatment will be supervised by specialists from the Christie TYA Service allowing you to have your care and treatment closer to home.
