Lead Service Specialist, Specialised Commissioning North West

Mark has responsibility for NHS England’s specialised Cancer, Blood and Infection, and Gender Identity programmes of care. He works across the three Integrated Care Systems in the North West to help deliver strategic commissioning priorities, improve pathways, establish new services and support operational resilience.

Mark has held senior operational management roles across a wide range of acute services, including Cancer Services, General Medicine, A&E and General Surgery. He has also worked in programme management, performance, and commissioning roles at regional and national level, giving him a broad understanding of healthcare delivery and system transformation.

Mark studied Biology as an undergraduate and has two Master’s degrees, one in Business Administration (MBA) and another in Public Health (MPH).

Outside of work, Mark is married with three boys. He enjoys sailing and volunteers with the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, which is a national charity that takes young people (aged 8 – 24) on sailing adventures to inspire them to believe in a brighter future living through and beyond cancer.
