With over two decades of dedicated service in cancer care, Dr. Laura Elder has been a steadfast advocate for young people navigating complex healthcare journeys. For the past 12 years, she has led as the Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) Lead Nurse, ensuring that young individuals across the region receive age-appropriate, specialised care tailored to their unique needs.

Dr. Elder is deeply invested in advancing research within the field, serving as the local Principal Investigator for the national TYA Brightlight study, which seeks to enhance outcomes and experiences for young people affected by cancer. Her leadership commitment extends beyond clinical practice, as she also chairs the TYA Clinical Quality Group for Cheshire and Merseyside, driving excellence in service delivery and patient-centered care.
Recognised for her expertise on a national scale, Dr. Elder actively contributed to shaping policy and standards as a representative in the Children and Young People’s Cancer Taskforce, advocating for progressive strategies that improve cancer care for young people.
Through her leadership, research, and unwavering dedication, Dr. Elder continues to champion the highest quality of care for young people facing cancer, ensuring they receive the comprehensive, compassionate support they deserve.
